Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist, is also an author. She is the author of fifteen books, and she is co-founder the magazine The Huffington Post. Arianna Huffington is a writer, philanthropist, television personality and the owner of the independent liberal online news magazine The Huffington Post. After moving to England from Greece at 16 She earned an MA with a major in Economics from Cambridge University. The infamous debating society The Cambridge Union was her first president and she took it when she was 21. Following her graduation, she became a prominent conservative syndicated journalist. A few more years later, she founded The Huffington Post which featured critical commentary on the current political landscape. It was possible for her to recruit many prominent contributors to share their opinions about politics and culture. Arianna gained notoriety in 2003 when she ran as an independent in the California recall election to succeed Governor Davis. Also, she was the head of a Detroit automobile project that was fuel efficient. Forbes named her as the top female in the media industry in the year 2009. She ranked 12th on the listing. The Guardian also included her on the list of top 100 media outlets in the year 2009. AOL bought The Huffington Post from AOL in the year 2011. She was then made the head of AOL's media group. It included a number of AOL-owned brands, including Engadget AOL Style List and Patch Media. She was the daughter of journalist and management consultant Konstantinos and his wife Elli Stasinopoulos. Although she had a close friendship with her mother and father but it was their connection which shaped her. As a child she demonstrated leadership skills that she still is known for. She moved to England at 16, to pursue her education and was accepted into Girton College Cambridge. In her college years she joined the Cambridge Union debating group where she became the first woman president, and also the only foreign president. In 1972, her Master's in Economics was awarded. After her graduation, she was a columnist-critic as well as a TV host. In addition, along with Bernard Levin she appeared on the show Face the music.
