Anna Paquin

Anna Paquin, a Canadian-New Zealander actress. Paquin, born in Winnipeg and was raised by Wellington Paquin's acting debut was in the role of Flora McGrath. For this role, she won an Academy Award of Best Supporting Actress for The romantic drama The Piano at the young age of eleven. She was the second-youngest winner in Oscar history. Canadian actress and New Zealander who, when she was a child, won the Academy Award in 1993 for the most outstanding support actress. The actress played the fierce daughter of Holly Hunter's portrayer in The Piano. When she responded to a request for auditions, she was able to audition at age nine, and with little acting experience before that the actress was chosen for Flora McGrath's role. Flora is the daughter of the Scottish pianist, who was deaf. They moved into New Zealand during the middle of the nineteenth century in an effort to get married. As a teenager, her family moved from Canada and eventually to United States. Paquin was the main character in Fly Away Home in 1996 and had a minor part in the film as Jane Eyre as only a child. Paquin played Frankie Addams in a 1997 TV movie adaptation of Carson McCullers's novel The Member of the Wedding and also played a part in the role of Queen Spain in Steven Spielberg's Amistad (1997). She played teenagers on the screen in Hurlyburly (1998) She's All That (1999) and A Walk on the Moon (1999) and portrayed the groupie Polexia Aphrodisa in Almost Famous (2000).
